Have you ever heard about “autopilot” mode? If you read it now, you will find all the amazing things about it. And one more amazing thing is that we all are already equipped with this. Yes, it is all about our small little habits, which do not seek us to perform. We perform automatically. If you concentrate on your habits and place them one by one, you will see your day is going on autopilot mode naturally. According to studies, up to 40% of our daily actions are powered by habits. And you know what? It takes only 21 days to form a habit.
We always admire people who are successful entrepreneurs or celebrities, but they are powerful because of their habits and routine. Aristotle says it with clarity – “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” A Powerful routine is a result of solid habits and nothing else. The only way you can do your best work is by putting all your habits in the time and that is what makes a powerful routine. You need to experiment for yourself to form a daily routine in a more simple and optimum way.
The thumb rule to forming and following a routine is to be consistent with your wake-up time. Our mind and body crave consistency and so do our habits. The more you’re able to stick to specific wake-up times, more likely you will be able to turn this into a solid habit. Now it’s time to tell a magical thing about setting a daily routine and forming the habit of waking up at a set time in the morning. You will be able to tackle something very difficult, which you were scared of doing because of the level of difficulty. Our energy is highest in the mornings and we can take brave steps, set goals and make decisions.
It’s all easy to finish your day and take out time to entertain yourself and relax. Unfortunately, the human brain doesn’t just switch gears like that. Instead, when left un dealt with, thoughts and emotions linger and pop up at the worst times (like when you’re trying to go to sleep!) Take a few minutes after work to separate yourself from other thoughts and ideas and dig into your own. If you want, write down ideas, thoughts, and feelings that won’t leave you alone. This way, you know everything is ready to be dealt with tomorrow and can be free to truly relax and recover.
Not everyone has total control over how they spend their time during the workday, which can often mean we get stuck being upset with how things didn’t go as planned. However, creating a sense of control is an important part of calming your brain and staying positive and productive.
Make a switch-off ritual; keep a sense of control, no matter what else happened during the day. Establish a ritual that suits you according to your need (entertainment, meditation, social media, or gossiping with a friend.) Know when to stop working and don’t forget to make a list of what you need to do tomorrow.
Ultimately, you will always keep on doing what works best for you. Your body and mind will tell you if certain things aren’t working for you (you’ll get restless, bored, anxious, tired, or all of them). Listen to those signs and use them to build your own personalized daily routine.
